Sarah Staes

Sarah Staes obtained a Master’s degree in Ibero-Roman Linguistics and Literature from Ghent University in 2015, focusing on intimacy and politics in post-dictatorial Chilean prose. At the same university, she completed a Subsequent Master’s Programme in Multilingual Business Communication (2016). Since February 2017, Sarah is working on the FWO-funded Research Project Lives in Translation. The Paradoxes of Spanish-American Multilingual Autobiographical Writing 1980-2015. Her PhD thesis explores the tension created by multilingualism in contemporary autobiographical texts written by authors of Spanish-speaking backgrounds from Latin America (Argentina, Chile and Mexico).
