Alexandra Sanchez obtained a PhD degree in Translation Studies at KU Leuven (Campus Antwerp). Her dissertation has been published under the title Discourses of Migration in Documentary Film: Translating the Real to the Reel (Palgrave Macmillan). Alexandra is currently “professor of audiovisual translation” at UGent, where she teaches audiovisual translation (subtitling, dubbing, audiodescription). She also continues to work on the audiovisual transfer of migration – a line of research she began to develop during her doctorate. Additionally, Alexandra is interested in translation as intercultural transfer, the interfaces between Translation and Communication Studies, and the added value of translation theory as a transdisciplinary heuristic tool.
