Jeroen Vandaele

Jeroen Vandaele (PhD KULeuven, 2006) is a tenured academic staff member at the Faculty of Arts of Ghent University (UGent). He works at the Hispanic section of the Department of Translation, Interpretation and Communication. From 2008 until 2017 Vandaele worked at the University of Oslo (Norway) as a professor of Spanish. His research focuses on the intersections of translation, ideology, censorship, and comedy—with a special interest for film and fiction under Francoism. A recent focus is on the Francoist reception and translation of Henrik Ibsen. Vandaele is an advisory board member of the CompLit journal Actio Nova (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), and the literary-linguistic Revista Alicantina de Estudios Ingleses (Universidad de Alicante).
