Frances Welling is a teaching and research assistant at the Russian section of the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication at Ghent University, where she is affiliated with the TRACE and CLIV research groups. She obtained her Master’s degrees in Literature, Culture and Society and in Translation studies at the University of Amsterdam, after completing her Bachelor’s degrees in Cultural Studies at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and in Slavic studies (Russian track) at the University of Amsterdam. She also writes and translates (RU-NL, EN-NL, NL-EN) and is part of the editorial team of Dutch online literary magazine DIG (De Internet Gids). She is currently working on a research project on the practice of self-translation of poetry into Russian in multilingual contexts.
