Philippe Humblé

Philippe Humblé holds a PhD on lexicography of the Universidade de Santa Catarina/University of Birmingham. In Brazil he helped found the Master’s and Doctoral programme on Translation Studies and the journal Cadernos de Tradução. At the Universidade de Santa Catarina he taught courses on ‘Literary Translation’ and ‘Lexicography and Translation’. He publishes mainly on the translations of Don Quixote, the translation of migrant literature, language and migration questions in general, literary translation and corpus research/lexicography. The main axis of this research, be it on Don Quixote or Semi Evgine Özdamar or Fouad Laroui, remains a sociological one, concerning the activity of the translator in the polysystem  of the source and target language.
